The words thankful and gratitude are bandied about in most conversations during the Thanksgiving holiday, but do we really know what these words mean?
I hit up good ol’Google to find out. The funny thing is that when I looked up thankful the definition said to be grateful or in gratitude and when I looked up gratitude it said to be thankful. (Insert head scratching.)
Digging a little deeper, I discovered a definition for gratitude that felt just about right, “readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”
Now isn’t that what we all really desire when we offer a kindness to someone or receive one from someone else? A little appreciation goes a long way in creating a world of kindness and compassion.
I’ve been sharing some posts on social media in preparation for the thanksgiving holiday highlighting gratitude.
